anza-borrego desert elopement

Rachel and Michael met at a coffee shop in San Diego on a Thursday morning. They initially had some challenges coordinating schedules; Michael is a professional swim coach and piano teacher, and Rachel is a cancer research and clinical trial coordinator for UCSD. Right off the bat, they knew they had at least two things they had in common: they love the crap out of Southern California, and they love to pour their hearts and souls into serving people.

Right after their first coffee date, they were already planning next adventures and more ways to hang out doing what they love: cycling, exploring, hiking, running - pretty much anything that will get them outside. When it came to planning their dream wedding, they knew it had to be outside - AKA, their happy place. They weren’t interested in planning something extravagant for hundreds of people. Instead, they wanted to celebrate their love in one of the most beautiful places in the world: the Anza-Borrego Desert.

Confetti wildflowers, dusty blue hues, creamy orange mountains, and endless light and laughter surrounded these two on their day. Scroll to see the way they look at each other…and grab a tissue if you can!
